How to get a guitar to stay in tune

Setting up a Goldfish Guitar

Goldfish Guitars are fun guitars for kids with their colorful and exciting shapes. The bodies of Goldfish Guitars are made of basswood, and the necks are made of maple. All of the Goldfish Guitars sold at dealers are set-up and ready to go. The guitars that are shipped off the Goldfish website have been inspected for damage, tested, and set-up to play at shipment. When a guitar is shipped from one climate to another, the wood may absorb or release moisture causing the wood to flex or bend slightly. Because of this, when you receive a Goldfish Guitar, it may be out of tune and require further set-up. The intonation must be reset, and the trussrod in the neck may need to be adjusted by a PROFESSIONAL IN YOUR AREA. These professionals can be found at your local guitar dealer. Guitar set-up usually costs between 25 dollars and 40 dollars, but once completed it can last a long time. However, it is important to avoid radical temperature changes with any guitar and most importantly to avoid large changes in humidity. Do not store your guitar in a damp basement or hot attic. Do not expect Target or Walmart to set-up any guitar. Large big box stores do not have any trained personnel for guitar set-up. In most cases, they sell very cheap guitars and have no interest in your guitar playability.

ALL GUITARS HAVE TO BE SET-UP - THIS ENTAILS STRETCHING THE STRINGS WHILE TUNING AND SETTING BRIDGE INTONATION. THE ABOVE PICTURES ILLUSTRATE 3 DIFFERENT SUNFISH GUITARS. NOTICE HOW THE WHITE LINES ARE DIFFERENT. EACH BRIDGE HAS A DIFFERENT SET UP BECAUSE ALL THREE NECK WOODS HAVE DIFFERENT PROPERTIES AND ARE AFFECTED BY CLIMATES DIFFERENTLY. EACH SADDLE IS ADJUSTED WHERE THE DESIRED NOTE IS IN TUNE IN THE OPEN POSITION AND ALSO AT THE 12TH FRET.

It is impossible to set up many of guitars that are available at BigBox stores. Some of the guitars do not even have metal truss-rods to keep the neck straight. I can not mention any brands because of lawsuits. One company who tried to inform the public about the "junk guitars" was sued and put out of business. If you buy a CHEAP guitar at a BigBox store you will find out that I am not lying to you. You can learn the hard way that some of these guitars are so cheap that it should be criminal to sell them as guitars. If you see a guitar with a plywood body or a plastic body it is not really a guitar in my opinion, it is a toy. Any guitars that are $99 or less are toys and can not really be kept in tune. Some of these cheap guitars you find on ebay will only discourage you child because no only will you child no be able to play them, no one can play them including professionals.

Information about high priced guitars and cheap guitars - Cheap guitar features to stay away from.

If you want a serious guitar that professional play it can cost anywhere from $800 to $10000 depending on brand name, wood selection and electronics. Goldfish Guitars are a great first guitar and equally a good travel guitar. Goldfish guitars have a solid Bass wood body and a maple neck with a metal truss-rod to keep the neck straight. Goldfish guitars can be slightly more expensive but the quality is there and the paint jobs for these guitars are very expensive. I have been through many factories in China and made many mistakes trying to get a quality kids guitar at an affordable price.
